Reconstruction project of the highway A4 Vilnius-Varėna-Gardinas

Year 2013

Kelprojektas will carry out reconstruction of a section of the highway A4 Vilnius-Varėna-Gardinas from 39.44 to 69.00 km. When preparing the project, the existing 29.56 km long II-III technical category road will be reconstructed into II technical category of the road.

The following works have been planned in the section of the road to be reconstructed:

• To carry out geodesic, geological, hydrometeorological, economic surveys
• To make an analysis of the existing situation (number of traffic incidents, distribution of traffic flows in intersections, etc.) by determining the most dangerous and highest traffic-related accident places of the road section
• To prepare selection for environmental impact assessment of the planned economic activity
• To determine the impact significance of the planned economic activity on the established or potential Natura 2000 territories
• To prepare a road reconstruction project
• To design engineering traffic safety facilities
• To prepare a reconstruction project of the bridge across the Raudonėlė River (47.98 km).

It has been planned to carry out the design works by April 2014.
