Kelprojektas will implement the project of reconstruction of the stretches of the A12 highway Riga – Šiauliai – Tauragė – Kaliningrad in the value of almost 6 million litas. Engineering works will cover 50.22 km of total length of the road. Total length of the highway connecting Riga and Kaliningrad is 186.09 km. Engineering works are planned to be finalized in September 2015.

“The A12 highway belongs to the international transport corridor and is of European significance; therefore, the condition and technical parameters of this road must meet the international road requirements. Currently the stretches of this road in Lithuania are rutted, their paving is timeworn. Our specialists have extensive experience in road reconstruction projects, therefore, we will offer the most optimal and innovative solutions to ensure that the road stretches under reconstruction measure up to the international level”, – said Algimantas Medžiaušis, CEO of Kelprojektas, UAB.

The specialists of Kelprojektas are planning to prepare the reconstruction designs for over 150 road structures located in the stretches of the highway between Riga and Kaliningrad: 70 access ramps, 22 crossings, 36 bus stops, 30 culverts, 4 bridges, 5 viaducts, etc. Also, with a view to increase traffic safety, traffic islands will be designed in the road stretches.

Besides the usual renovation and widening of the road as well as reconstruction of the parts of the road, the designs for renovation of engineering networks, electricity transmission line, and lightening system will be prepared for the stretches of the A12 highway.

“The main purpose of the project of reconstruction of the stretches is to ensure the road user safety. Reconstruction projects will cover five the A12 highway stretches, which extend from a few to several kilometers. Our specialists in this project will carry out building, engineering, economic, and such other surveys, as well as make the environmental impact assessment of such road stretches”, – said Giedrius Sarapinas, Project Manager of Road Department at Kelprojektas.

The specialists of Kelprojektas will carry out exhaustive engineering geodetic, geological, and hydrometeorological surveys. They will also determine the existing lane boundaries and carry out the economic survey of the road stretch, analyzing the benefit of costs of the road stretch reconstruction project, social and economic needs of all road users, as well as such other economic parameters. The company’s specialists will prepare the design solutions of construction as well as assess the environmental impact of economic activities planned and influence thereof on Natura 2000 areas.
