International experts present the innovations within transport infrastructure in Vilnius

One of the most influential engineering consulting firms in the world presented the innovations within transport infrastructure in Vilnius on the 10th of June. At the conference “Transport Infrastructure Innovations – 2015”, which is organized for the third consecutive year, the experts from Sweden, Netherlands, Great Britain, Poland, and Lithuania discussed the efficiency of innovations and cooperation between science and business. The conference was arranged by Kelprojektas, the biggest transport infrastructure engineering company in Lithuania.

“There are more and more of infrastructure projects implemented in Lithuania, therefore, foreign experience in choosing the most efficient solutions and overcoming challenges is very helpful for the entire business community. This conference is an excellent opportunity for both Lithuanian and foreign specialists to have a discussion on the situation and the perspectives of transport infrastructure in Lithuania and to share knowledge as well as ideas, which would encourage the implementation of innovative transport infrastructure solutions”, – said Algimantas Medžiaušis, CEO of Kelprojektas, UAB.

Conference “Innovations within Transport Infrastructure 2015” took place at Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square. Zigmantas Perveneckas, Manager of Roads Technical Regulation and technologies Division at the Lithuanian Road Administration, spoke about recent development of road science and technologies, whereas the up-to-date railway solutions and technologies implemented in Lithuania were presented by Giedrius Grabauskas, Head of the Division of Technical Development under the Unit of Development under the Department of Development at Lithuanian Railways.

Global innovations within railway infrastructure were presented by Bogdan Godziejewski, Head of Railways Department at the international company Mott MacDonald BV, which has contributed to such project, as the Channel Tunnel. Rene Zijlstra, Director Business Development at the Dutch company Royal HaskoningDHV, which has prepared the World Islands project in Dubai (UAE), told about the innovations in the field of submerged floating tunnels.

Dr. Mats Svensson, Manager of Geotechnical Engineering Department at the Swedish company Tyrens AB, shared his knowledge of the experience of universities and leading transport infrastructure firms in Sweden and gave the examples of projects implemented by using GeoBIM, a tool for creating, managing, and using geotechnical databases and presenting virtual reality. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andrzej Szarata from Cracow University of Technology (Poland) spoke about the elaboration of regional communication infrastructure models, as the additional measures, aimed at the assessment of investment efficiency.

The conference was attended by over 130 participants, the representatives of the national authorities, the biggest infrastructure development and construction companies, regional road administration companies.
